obama sending 1200 troops to the border

May 25, 2010

President Barack Obama will send 1,200 National Guard troops along the U.S.-Mexico border ahead of Republican plans to try to force votes on such a deployment.

Obama will also request $500 million for border protection and law enforcement activities. Obama probably hated to do this but he is under pressure to do something after Arizona’s wonderful immigration law
according to the AP, The National Guard troops will work on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support, analysis and training, and support efforts to block drug trafficking.

Arizona Republican Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl have been pushing washington and Obama on such a move, and Republicans are going to try to require it as an amendment to a pending war spending bill.

McCain called for 6,000 National Guard troops to be sent, and he asked for $250 million more to pay for them.
Pentagon officials worried about perceptions that the U.S. was militarizing the border and did not want Guard troops to perform law enforcement duties.

There are more than 20,000 Border Patrol agents deployed now, mostly along the Southern border.

Closing the borders would get in their way of creating a North American Union and World Government. America For Americans! Close The Borders!

The pentagon doesnt want the troops used as law enforcement personel. Isn’t the militaries duty to protect the soveriegn borders of the USA? Dont we have hundreds of thousands of troops deployed all over the planet acting as law enforcement in a dozen countries? I guess the USA isnt as important as the rest of these countries.
