Sinceless Beating of Elderly White Male
The attack happened about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Tri-Miss Recycling on West Woodrow Wilson Avenue, authorities said. Luckily surveillance video caught the thugs in action on the premises. Teh contracted employee at the business, Fred Jackson, was welding security bars when two men wearing hoods walked up to him, police said. The recylcing center has to eld the bars becuase of constant breakins and thats why jackson was there that day. He was robbed of his wallet, beaten with an unknown object and left for dead, police said. Jackson was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was in a coma. Jackson’s daughter said
“He is still in very critical condition,”. “We just want answers. We deserve answers and my daddy deserves justice for what has happened to him and what they did to him.”
The $13,500 reward comes from Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers, which is offering up to $2,500; Tri-Miss, which has put up $7,500; from a nearby business, The Can Man, which is offering a $2,500 reward; and from Jackson’s family, which is offering $1,000.
Jackson police have made an arrest in connection with a robbery and beating that left a man in a coma. The Jackson Police Department said detectives received information that linked Jontez Garvis, 29, to the attack. Garvis was arrested on Friday and has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
